Oulunkylä English Kindergarten offers a warm, safe, and inspiring environment where children learn and grow through play and positive interaction. Our new, spacious premises are located in Oulunkylä’s shopping center (Ogeli) and include a private outdoor yard near Mäkitorppa Park. We now have capacity for up to 42 children, ensuring plenty of space for learning and play.
Who We Are
We provide early childhood education for two age groups:
OEK for children aged 3 to 6 years, including preschool education.
OK for children aged 1 to 3 years, offering a gentle start for the youngest learners.
Our kindergarten is operated by a non-profit parent association, which means we value community involvement and collaboration with families.
Our Language Approach
Children experience natural English immersion throughout the day. English is introduced through songs, stories, routines, and play, making language learning fun and effortless. No prior English skills are required for children or parents.

Daily Life at OEK
We offer both full-day and part-day care with flexible arrangements to suit family needs. Full-day care includes breakfast, an afternoon snack, as well as lunch. English is naturally woven into daily routines such as mealtimes and dressing, as well as small-group sessions and whole-kindergarten gatherings.

Our kindergarten operates on a non-profit basis, and fees are set by the parent association.

Additional details:
A reservation fee of €400 per family is charged when a place is offered (non-refundable if canceled).
Annual association membership fee is €50, except for families who paid the reservation fee
Excursion fee: €50 twice a year (spring and autumn), except for families who paid the reservation fee.
Sibling discount: €150/month for the older child, plus no excursion fees for the second child.
Families may receive private daycare support and care allowance from Kela, which is paid directly to the kindergarten.
Enrolment
Applications are accepted year-round, and places are offered in the order they are received. We recommend applying early, as queues vary from year to year. Families can choose between full-day or part-day care, and we will work with you to find the best option for your child.

If you do not receive a confirmation, please contact us so we can check that your application has reached us. Joining the waiting list for a childcare place is free of charge. By filling in and submitting the application form to us, you give your consent for the processing of your personal data during the childcare application process and any subsequent early childhood education relationship.
